What is a Color Change Wrap?
A color change car wrap involves the application of a vinyl film that covers your vehicle’s paint with a completely new color or finish.
Unlike traditional automotive paint, a vinyl wrap is non-permanent and can be removed without damaging the underlying paint. The wrap adheres seamlessly to the surface of the car and can be customized in various colors, textures, and finishes.
The Insomnia Wraps Process
Prep:
Upon arrival, the vehicle undergoes a thorough cleaning, starting with a foam bath and hand wash. Next, a clay bar removes embedded contaminants, followed by a 70% alcohol wipe to ensure a spotless surface, perfect for a flawless wrap installation.
Vinyl Installation:
Our skilled installers apply the vinyl film with precision, ensuring a seamless, wrinkle-free fit over every curve and contour. Using expert tools, they smooth the film to eliminate bubbles and imperfections, achieving a flawless, professional finish that enhances the vehicle’s appearance.
Finishing Touches:
Once the vinyl wrap is applied, it is carefully trimmed to fit each panel with precision. The edges are then expertly sealed to ensure a smooth, clean finish, eliminating any gaps or overlaps. This attention to detail creates a seamless, professional look that enhances the vehicle’s overall appearance.
How long does wrap last?
At Insomnia Wraps, we believe in giving your vehicle a stunning, custom look with premium-quality vinyl wraps. However, it's important to remember that vinyl wraps are not a permanent solution. Typically, they last between three to seven years, depending on factors like wrap quality, how your vehicle is stored, and how well it's maintained. For example, constant exposure to the sun and rain can speed up the wear-and-tear process, while a garage-kept vehicle will preserve the wrap much longer. Proper installation is also crucial—any lifting edges or bubbles can cause the wrap to degrade faster.
While vinyl wraps are an excellent way to upgrade your vehicle’s appearance, they won’t last forever. After about three to five years, the film can become brittle and difficult to remove, sometimes even damaging your paint. At Insomnia Wraps, we only use top-quality vinyl, ensuring a longer-lasting and more durable wrap. But even with the best materials, it’s important to monitor the condition and replace your wrap when it’s time. Let us help keep your vehicle looking sharp, and when it’s time for a fresh look, we’ve got you covered!

Why Should I Choose Wrap Over Paint?
Choosing a vinyl wrap over a traditional paint job offers several key advantages that make it an increasingly popular option for both car enthusiasts and everyday drivers. For starters, wraps are typically much more cost-effective. A full custom paint job can easily run between $5,000 and $10,000 or more, while a high-quality vinyl wrap usually falls in the $2,000 to $5,000 range, depending on the vehicle size and design complexity. Wraps also offer the major benefit of being reversible—perfect for people who lease their vehicles, want to try a new color temporarily, or frequently update the look of their car for business or personal reasons.
Another big reason to go with a wrap is protection. Vinyl acts as a barrier against sun damage, road debris, and light scratches, helping preserve the original factory paint and maintain the car’s resale value. Beyond practicality, wraps open up a world of creative options. Whether you want a matte black finish, a flashy chrome look, or even custom graphics, wraps offer styles and textures that are difficult (and expensive) to replicate with paint. Plus, installation takes less time—usually just a few days—making it a faster, more flexible way to transform your ride without a long-term commitment.

How long does it take to wrap a car?
The length of time to wrap a car depends on the complexity, color, and amount of disassembly required. Something like a Tesla takes 3 days due to the flatness and ease of disassembly. A vehicle like a G Wagon can take closer to 2 weeks because of requiring immense amounts of disassembly and very complex panels.
The color of a car also effects the length of time. Darker cars require less disassembly and do not need to be wrapped as deep due to the color blending in. White, red, and blue cars can be difficult to fully cover all original color so we wrap much deeper to prevent this.
Unlike most shops, we do extensive disassembly of every car we wrap. Bumpers, door handles, mirrors, rocker panels, headlights, taillights, antenna, etc.. Removing all these pieces allows for full coverage and a longer lasting wrap.
